06-Sep-2025: The True Story of the 4 Fallen Angels Chained in the River Euphrates
Opening Prayer
Introduction
Have you ever heard of four angels who are right now — at this very moment — imprisoned? Not just forgotten or ignored — but chained, bound, waiting for a specific hour, on a specific day, in a specific month, in a specific year…to be released. This might sound like something out of an apocalyptic movie or ancient legend — but this is not fiction. This is Scripture. This is prophecy. This is the Word of God.
Let’s take a look at one of the most terrifying and fascinating mysteries in The Book of Revelation — four fallen angels, bound at the great river Euphrates, waiting for their release on God’s Command…and the global judgment that follows.
Revelation 9:14-15
“Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, to slay the third part of men.”
- This isn’t metaphor and this isn’t symbolic poetry.
- This is a literal, prophetic event, scheduled in the sovereign calendar of Almighty God.
Who Are These Angels?
- The honest answer is. I don’t know.
- The Bible gives no names. But what it does say speaks volumes. They are bound and chained.
- You see, in Scripture, only rebellious angels — fallen angels — are ever chained.
- Faithful angels are free, obeying God without hindrance. But these four are not free. They are imprisoned. Not in hell…not in a pit…but at the Euphrates River.
2 Peter 2:4
“For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness…”
Jude 1:6
“And the angels who did not keep their proper domain… He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.”
These verses reveal the severity of their sin and the intensity of their punishment. Their power is so great — so dangerous — that God has kept them bound, locked away, until the precise moment they are to be used in His Judgment.
Why the Euphrates River?
- The Euphrates River is no random location.
- It’s one of the first rivers mentioned in Eden. It’s the cradle of human civilization — Babylon, Assyria, and ancient Mesopotamia.
Genesis 2:13-15
The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
- In Genesis, a single river flows out of the Garden of Eden and splits into four rivers: Pishon, Gihon, Tigris (Hiddekel), and Euphrates.
- While the Tigris and Euphrates are well-known rivers in the Middle East, the locations of Pishon and Gihon are uncertain, with theories placing them in regions like Arabia or Ethiopia.
- The four rivers are believed to symbolize God’s provision, the interconnectedness of creation, and the spread of divine blessing — a theme echoed in the Christian message of sharing the gospel with the world.
- But spiritually, it represents the border between God’s Kingdom and the forces of darkness. In prophecy, it is a boundary — a place where evil is restrained until God’s appointed time.
- You see, it’s no coincidence that the four most destructive angelic beings ever mentioned are being held there. The Euphrates becomes not just a place — it becomes a divine prison. A spiritual border.
What Happens When They’re Released?
- Scripture tells us exactly what they will do: “To kill a third of mankind.”
Revelation 9:13-16
The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.
- Let that settle into your mind and heart: One-third of humanity.
- This is not just chaos or confusion. This is judgment.
- These beings are not acting on their own. They are not random demons wreaking havoc.
- They are instruments of divine wrath, released at a specific time, with a terrifying mission.
- Their actions will be global, violent, and devastating — affecting the political, spiritual, and social climate of the entire world.
Why Are They Still Bound?
- Because God is merciful.
- Their imprisonment is not just about punishment. It’s about protection.
- Right now, much evil is restrained compared to what is coming during the Great Tribulation. The full fury of darkness is held back by the hand of God.
- Their delayed release gives humanity more time to repent. But make no mistake: when they are unleashed, it will mark the beginning of one of the darkest chapters in human history — the Great Tribulation.
Are They Already Released?
- That’s the question many are asking.
- Wars, pandemics, natural disasters, moral collapse — are these the signs?
- I doubt it because the rapture has not occurred yet but it really doesn’t matter. If you’re ready for The Lord you have nothing to fear.
- The truth is: we don’t know exactly when these angels will be released. But Scripture is clear that their release is tied to the last days — a specific hour, already determined by God.
- So rather than guessing dates, we must ask:
- Am I spiritually prepared for what’s coming?
- Am I rooted in God’s Word, awake and alert, or asleep in spiritual apathy?
- Am I walking in holiness, or drifting with the world?
The Good News: God Is Still Sovereign!
- Even the most terrifying fallen angels — beings who will one day slaughter a third of mankind — cannot act without God’s permission.
- This is not Satan’s victory.
- This is not evil getting out of control. This is God’s righteous judgment — controlled, calculated, and perfectly just. “Your will is sovereign.”
What Should We Do?
- This message is not to make you fearful — but faithful.
- Be vigilant. We are living in prophetic times.
- The spiritual war is real — and escalating. Be rooted in God’s Word.
- Now is not the time for shallow faith. You must know the Scriptures, stand on truth, and recognize the signs of the times.
- Be prayerful. Cultivate a life of intimacy with God. Daily. Constantly. Earnestly.
- Be filled with the Holy Spirit.
- It is the Spirit who strengthens, equips, and preserves us in the day of trial.
- Yes, evil is real. Yes, judgment is coming.
Jesus Christ is The King of Kings and The Lord of Lords.
Revelation 19:16
On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
- No power of hell, no scheme of man, no fallen angel — no matter how terrifying — can overthrow the sovereignty of our Lord so:
- Stay strong
- Stay awake
- Stand firm
John 1:5
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5
declares that Jesus Christ is the true Light, bringing truth, hope, and life into a world darkened by sin.
- The “darkness” symbolizes evil, ignorance, and rebellion against God.
- Yet, no matter how deep the darkness, it cannot overpower or extinguish the light of Christ.
Revelation 22:5
There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
- It’s a profound message of victory and hope — affirming that Christ’s light continues to shine, undefeated, even in the face of opposition or spiritual darkness.
Stay strong, Stay awake and Stand firm.
God Bless you all in The Mighty Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
